Academics and Experience - Journey
It all began many years ago, with Dr Kevin being an academic topper gaining admission to Topiwalla National Medical College also known as Nair Hospital, Bombay Central. With relentless zeal he pursued his studies and obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Mumbai in 1978. Needless to say, he passed all the medical exams with a first class and throughout his years at medical school he ranked in the top five in a class of one hundred and forty students!
Internship during the period of February 1978 to March 1979, was intensive and rewarding as it involved working long hours in overcrowded Out-patient departments and supervised by knowledgeable and dedicated senior doctor teachers, and ultimately at the March 1979 Convocation of the University of Bombay, he obtained his M.B.B.S. degree with a licence to practice medicine.
Inspired by the ethics, values and academic excellence of the Late Dr Eustace Sequeira, he applied for a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and with his excellent academic track record he obtained a seat in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Nair Hospital. After three years of intensive study, with postings at Rajawadi Hospital Ghatkopar and Santacruz General Hospital, he completed and obtained his M.D. Degree from the University of Mumbai, March 1982. During this period of study, he had the opportunity to train with one of the best vaginal surgeons in the country, Late Dr. D K Tank.
On completing the requirements of the MD program at the University of Mumbai, he was offered a post at Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri East in September 1982, and was appointed Resident Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His tenure with Holy Spirit Hospital has spanned almost 4 decades and has given him the opportunity to serve not just the community but in over four decades, catering to thousands of patients who have benefitted from his commitment, knowledge and skill. Currently, he is Head of Department, Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Gynaecological Endoscopy, Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri East, Mumbai.
In October 1985, Dr Kevin was also appointed as Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Holy Family Hospital, Bandra West, Mumbai. For over 35 years, the community in this western suburb and surrounding areas have benefitted from his experience and knowledge.
During the period from February 2003 to January 2020, he accepted an appointment as Consultant, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Endoscopy, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Mumbai. However, due to time constraints he was compelled to give up this appointment.
Something he has done over the years is to undergo training so as to update his knowledge and skills especially specialised surgical skills in Gynaecology Endoscopy, so that modern advancements and techniques could be made available to his patients. Currently he has 27 years experience as a Gynaecological Endoscopist with special skills in Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy. This journey started in 1993 when he first trained in Gynaecological Endoscopy at The Royal Free Hospital, London, UK.
There is no doubt whatsoever that his patients and colleagues have benefited immensely from his over 38 years of successful experience in the field of Endoscopy, Infertility and Bad Obstetric History cases.
